About

Oil painting has become an integral part of my life over the past decade. It both delights and challenges me with its unique ability to capture a mere moment with the depth and texture demanded by the senses.

At this point in my art practice and career, I paint what gives me pleasure, whatever enchants the senses. I find that though I’m pulled to similar themes in my imagery, the underlying thread that pulls my work together is the intent to fully engage in an aesthetic experience.

Oil painting has been the “just right” vehicle to come by these honestly because of the very nature of oil paint itself – deep, rich, malleable. Its depth, texture and slow drying time allow me to move through various senses of a subject until I’ve found the perfect shade to capture.

In this sense, oil painting, for me, is otherworldly and transformative.
